Itinerary #4 (10D/09N) San Jose – Arenal -Manuel Antonio beach- Corcovado National Park- San Jose

Day 01: San José

Upon your arrival to the International Airport, our driver will pick you up and transfer you to Presidente hotel. A four-star, 100-room hotel in the heart of San José downtown, Costa Rica, Presidente hotel is located on the corner of the Central Avenue Pedestrian Boulevard and Seventh Street, just 20 minutes from Costa Rica International Airport (SJO). Guests staying at the Hotel Presidente will be gratified by its ideal location, only a few blocks from the most important cultural and historical landmarks in San Jose city: National Theatre, and the Gold Museum, Overnight at Presidente hotel.

Day 02: Arenal/ Tour to Arenal Volcano Area and Tabacon Hot Springs

Breakfast.  Tour to Arenal Volcano Area, Costa Rica’s most spectacular geological attraction. The very active Arenal Volcano frequently emits sounds of violent explosions, attended by clouds of gray, brown, and orange gases.  On the way you will visit Sarchí Ox-cart Factory and then you will enjoy a delicious Costa Rican lunch in Arenal Area.  At afternoon you will visit Tabacón Resort, where you can sooth your muscles in the clear, relaxing thermal springs. Buffet dinner included. Overnight at Mountain Paradise hotel. Day 03: Arenal/ Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge

After breakfast, visit to Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge: The Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge and the Rio Frío are biological humid areas considered to be one of the richest in biological diversity in Costa Rica. Here you can find a great variety of resident and migratory birds plus three different species of monkeys, also iguanas, sloths, turtles and caymans.

The tour starts when we pick up all “Nature Lovers from the hotel in a very comfortable bus for the 1-½ hour Transfer to Los Chiles, a culturally mixed village only 4-km from the Nicaraguan border. Here your boat waits for your river adventure, at that time we begin our 2 ½ hour floating safari through Tropical Rain Forest and pastures until we arrive at the marsh.  An experienced English - Spanish speaking guide leads the tour.

Some birds are residents in the area and it is possible to see hundreds of them especially during the dry season.  Some of them are Anhinga or Snake - bird, Roseate Spoonbill, it is possible to see little groups of this bird eating in the surroundings of the river.  Wood Storks, the Jabiru, the largest bird in Central America and very endangered.  Also the Olivaceous Cormorant, that makes its nest in the area, it is also the most popular bird in the area. Along the river we can see howler monkeys, spider monkeys, white-faced monkeys, also the three-toed sloth and some reptiles like caimans, Jesus Christ lizard and turtles This trip includes a typical Costa Rican lunch, regional fruit, natural juices and coffee, canned drinks, natural juices, bottled water and cookies are also included during the boat tour. Day 04: Arenal/ Manuel Antonio National Park

After breakfast, transfer with the shuttle bus to Manuel Antonio National Park, one of the most beautiful parks in the country. Overnight at La Mariposa Hotel . The hotel is magnificently perched on an elevation, overlooking the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean, the city of Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park. The scenery of ocean, rainforest and sky is stunning. It is just part of the special mix of energy and magic that has enchanted and made La Mariposa such a beloved place to thousands of guests throughout the years. Day 05: Manuel Antonio

Breakfast and free day to enjoy the beach and the National Park. Overnight at La Mariposa hotel.

Day 06: Manuel Antonio/ Corcovado National Park

Breakfast. In the morning transfer to Quepos Airport in order to take the domestic flight to Palmar Sur, at the airport a representative of Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge will be waiting to transfer you to the lodge. Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge is the closest to Corcovado National Park, the last remaining Pacific lowland rainforest of sustainable size in Central America. Located on the Osa Peninsula in southwestern Costa Rica, Corcovado is the "crown jewel" of a world-renowned national park system. Including thirteen separate ecosystems, almost one thousand species of trees and nearly hundred species of birds, Corcovado has been called "the most biologically intense place on earth" by no less an authority than the National Geographic Society. Here among the largest trees of Costa Rica, can be found the densest population of tapirs, jaguars and scarlet macaws in Meso-America. Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge, tucked away in the trees and cooled by the Pacific Ocean, is a 170 acre private reserve bordering Corcovado National Park. Carefully designed and built by an American naturalist with over thirty years of local experience, this unique lodge offers accommodations constructed with the highest concern for conservation in harmony with the landscape and the environment.

There are no roads to Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge, access is only by motor launch. The adventure begins one and a half hours before your arrival as the launch leaves from our reception center, "La Hacienda", in Sierpe. You travel down the river and then follow the Pacific coast until you arrive at the lodge. Lunch and dinner included.

Day 07: Tour to Corcovado National Park

After a delicious breakfast your adventure begins. Starting out from the lodge with your naturalist guide you journey into Corcovado National Park. The cool morning hours offer a good opportunity to spot wildlife and to observe some of the incredible variety of birds the abound in the park. The tour includes the transportation, bilingual guide, and lunch at the park. Dinner at the lodge. Overnight at Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge.

Day 08: Snorkeling in Caño Island

After breakfast, tour to Caño Island. Offshore lies Caño Island, an ancient Indian burial ground. Picnic on a white sand beach shealtered by coconut palms and snorkel amoung the coral reefs that surrounds this tropical paradise. There will be time for a hike up to the burial grounds in the interior of the island. Dinner at the lodge. Overnight at Casa Corcovado Jungle Lodge.

Day 09: Corcovado/ San Jose

After enjoying breakfast, boat and land transfer to Palmar Airport. Domestic air flight to San Jose. Private transfer to Presidente Hotel

Day 10: Fligth back home

Breakfast. Transfer to the International Airport for your flight back home
